Virtual Indigenous Science Experience
VISE 2022 applications are now OPEN!
You can apply via UBC Qualtrics, or via online submission.
About VISE:
The Virtual Indigenous Science Experience (VISE) was created in 2020 in response to the COVID-19 pandemic. This program was made to replace the CEIH’s long running Summer Science Program. In 2021, VISE took place online (mostly through Zoom), and high school students from grades 8 to 11 participated in workshops centred around science, math, engineering, pharmacy and more. They also participated in daily talking circles with Elders and learned about the Indigenous faculty, presence, and work at UBC. If COVID-19 restrictions do not allow us to gather in-person for UBC Summer Science from July 10th-23rd we will then offer VISE 2022. With respect to those that may not want to attend an in-person Summer Science this year, we are opening VISE 2022 applications to assess the demand for the program. Closer to May 2022, we will announce if one or both programs (UBC SSP & VISE 2022) will be running in July 2022.
Who is VISE for? Indigenous students entering grades 9 – 12 in Fall 2022
When is VISE? July 2022 (exact dates TBD)
Where is VISE? Online via Zoom
