How much does UBC Summer Science and VISE cost?

There is a $200 program fee for UBC Summer Science. This fee goes towards accommodation and meals during the program. All other expenses (such as workshops, transit fares, admission to museums or attractions, etc) are covered while students are at UBC. The program fee does not include travel to and from Vancouver. Students are encouraged to apply for funding from their band or school district. There is a bursary application within the UBC Summer Science application to cover the program fee, if needed. 

When is the deadline for UBC Summer Science?

The deadline is May 31st, 2023 at 11:59PM. 

However if you apply before April 17th at 11:59PM, you will be entered in a chance to win a $50 VISA gift card!

Is UBC Summer Science a two-week program?

For UBC Summer Science, students in grades 11 and 12 will participate from July 9th-15th, 2023. Students in grades 9 and 10 will participate from July 16th – July 22nd, 2023. Overall, each student will only be staying at the Vancouver campus for one week.

Is VISE going to be offered in July 2023?

If COVID-19 restrictions do not allow us to gather in-person, we will then offer the Virtual Indigenous Science Experience (VISE), which is Summer Science’s online counterpart.

Throughout the program, you will learn from our Summer Science Elder(s) as well as the numerous program coordinators and workshop facilitators! You will also get the opportunity to go out and enjoy some of the things Vancouver has to offer (i.e Jericho beach).
