What is UBC Summer Science Program?

UBC Summer Science is a one-week cultural, health and science program for Indigenous students in grades 8-11. The program promotes interest in health and science programs through firsthand experience at the University of British Columbia. The Summer Science Program is a great opportunity to meet new friends, eat great food, connect with Elders/role models while enjoying fun, laughter and learning.

Who: Students entering grades 9-12 in fall 2022
Where: UBC Vancouver campus
When: July 10th-16th (Grades 10 & 11)
July 17th-23rd (Grades 8 & 9)

Cost: $200 program fee

Application Deadline: May 31st, 2022



Frequently asked Questions

How much does UBC Summer Science and VISE cost?

There is a $200 program fee for UBC Summer Science. The program fee covers travel, accommodations, and food. There is also a bursary application within the UBC Summer Science application to cover the program free, if needed.

VISE 2022 is an online, free program.

When is the deadline for UBC Summer Science and VISE?

The deadline is May 31st at 11:59PM

However if you apply before April 17th at 11:59PM, you will be entered in a chance to win a $50 VISA gift card!

Is UBC Summer Science and VISE a two-week program?

For UBC Summer Science, students in grades 10 and 11 will participate from July 10th-16th. Students in grades 8 and 9 will participate from July 17th-23rd. Overall, each student will only be staying at the Vancouver campus for 1 week.

For VISE, the format and date has yet to be determined but we will be taking student’s availability into account.
