Indigenous Cultural Safety Coordinator

The Coordinator is responsible for supporting the commitment to advance cultural humility and cultural safety within Vancouver Coastal Health (VCH). The role will involve the ongoing development and implementation of the organization’s Indigenous Cultural Safety Framework and training programs in a way that is relevant to the values and strategic directions of the organization and with the goal of enhancing the organization’s capacity to deliver health services in a culturally safe manner.

This position provides support to the building of research capacity and collaborative partnerships with communities and research organizations. Maintains and strengthens interdepartmental support and information sharing across the organization as well as with health system partners. Offers technical and functional support to grant funded research projects. Ensures close communication and project coordination for research project teams.

    • The Counsellor’s role will be to provide the emotional support for staff, volunteers and students, and will actively participate in most of the activities.

  • Dorm Coordinator
    • The Dorm Coordinator’s role is to supervise the students and staff in the dorm accommodations and to assist them in carrying out their dorm duties in an effective manner. To establish and apply dorm rules with the dorm staff related to: safety, use of space, quiet time, and adherence to curfews, sign outs, managing & monitoring the dorm supplies and consistently communicating these rules to the students.

  • Land and food Coordinator
    • The Land and Food Coordinators are responsible for the aspects of the program that have to do with meal and nutritional planning, daily food tallying, grocery buying logistics and intersections between meals and their sources from the land. They will design and implement a variety of meal and nutritional options, as well as motivate youth to maintain or improve their personal and community food and environmental health.

  • Recreation Coordinator
    • The Recreation Coordinators are responsible for the physical activity aspects of the program. They will design and implement a variety of recreational, cultural and social activities, as well as motivate youth to maintain or improve their personal health and fitness.
