The Centre for Excellence in Indigenous Health is pleased to announce our second annual Aboriginal Health Sciences Pre-Admissions Workshop!
Date: July 12th-14th, 2017
Location: UBC Vancouver Campus
Registration is now closed.
This 3-day workshop is intended to help you learn about the admissions process at UBC and financing your education. Attendees will receive experience with team based learning and the Multiple Mini Interview (MMI) format used in many health science admissions processes. You will get to know the UBC Vancouver campus and the people and facilities that we have to support you as you pursue your education.
Anyone aged 18+ at the time of the workshop who is of Aboriginal ancestry (First Nations including Status and non-Status, Inuit and Métis) and is interested in any area of health science offered at the University of British Columbia is welcome to attend. Information about UBC`s health science programs can be found here. You do not need to be a current UBC student to attend.
Accommodations for attendees who live outside of the Lower Mainland, as well as meals for all attendees will be covered for the duration of the workshop.
There is funding for travel available; however, funds are limited. Attendees are responsible for paying for their own travel. If you receive funding, you will be required to submit a receipt for reimbursement.
If you have any questions, please email our Indigenous Student Programs Coordinator, Savanah Knockwood, at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Note: Please be aware that this workshop does not specifically focus on the application to the MD program. If you are most interested in applying to Medicine, you are still welcome at our workshop, but please note that the material is about admissions to health sciences generally. For information regarding the pre-admissions workshop for prospective medical students, please contact the Faculty of Medicine`s Aboriginal Student Initiatives Coordinator, James Andrew, at email@example.com.
